Additions to Turns Sampler

I've been thinking for a while about additions to one of my most used Max Patchers. I really wanted to add a recording functionality to my turns sampler but to be honest I really haven't had the energy to think about putting it together. Well that all changed this week when I added it to not only the internal individual turns objects but the one set for the group which is all held in the multi interface setup for my LPD8 mini controller. So, I've had a few learnings when I put this together to make it work across four different terms objects I needed to make sure that not only the names of the buffer groove record etc objects were all similarly named but I had to make sure that they were named differently. You see in Max you can't have the same object name with a number at the end of them like turns1, turns2 turns3 etc. They all have to be sufficiently different. Naming these was easiest to be done outside of the patch with a set object just making sure that they're all connected correctly. I also found that the easy ADC object has to be on the outside of the patcher where all the sub patches so there was a little bit of stuffing around to get it working. The best way to do this was using a receive and send suitable for audio as I had trouble sending them via regular inlets and outlets. I couldn't remember off the top of my head if that worked but I found using quick r~ and s~ objects worked really well.  I think this is a really good addition to the patch overall. I've been thinking a lot of about an auto transposer as well. I had some ideas about how I could add this to some other recording tool then I realised I could just add this to my turns and I wouldn't need it to be auto. I could just add a randomiser as a starting point at least because I already have sample transposition in this tool. This could be built upon in the future to have a rate of change attached to it. Of course you can read about this in my other blog post where I talked about adding rate of change as a means of chance but for now this is perfectly serviceable. This was a great feeling to be able to get all these ideas out in one week and adding to an existing patch, rather than having yet another generator anyway you can pick this up on my resources page as normal. There you'll be able to see all of the other little tweaks I've done to it since I've last uploaded it here. There'll be updates to turns and turns multi. You can see the outcome in this week’s Live Takes.
